Gio JINCHARADZE

 
 
 

Born in 1981, Gio Jincharadze is an illustrator, visual artist and book designer based in Tbilisi, Georgia. His focus lies mainly in Georgian tales and mythology. His works can be found in many Georgian motifs, weather ornaments, architecture and clothing. His artistic view is based on translating details from Georgian traditional living into a modern language, and adding new subjects to the variety of the country’s art. 

After his MA degree in State Academy of Arts - Tbilisi at Advertisement Graphics and Printmaking, he started to design books and work on organizing Tbilisi Book Days at Expo Georgia 2014 - 2015. In 2015, he won the prize for Picture Book Idea Competition. One of the books he designed, Tsikara, a Georgian folk tale for children, was awarded as “Jakob Gogebashvili Youth Award”. He has attended many other book festivals and markets, including Frankfurt Book Fair and Bologna Children Book Fair. He designed an another book for children, 'Big Book of Wolves’ in 2020 and in 2021, he launched his solo exhibition ‘Amirani’ which includes illustrations, sculptures and paintings, at Center of Contemporary Art (CCA) - Tbilisi.
