He started his TV career at the age of 9 as an actor. After seven years of acting he began to shoot short films. He wrote, directed and produced his first short film Rasin Bey at the age of 16.

While studying at İstanbul University Faculty of Communication, Radio, TV and Cinema; he directed his first TV Commercial in 2010 and became Turkey’s youngest TVC director at the age of 23. He also continued to produce and direct short films like Galaksi Yolcuları, MacGuffin Bombastik and Fasülye Noir.

Ünal still directs and writes screenplays for films and mini series.
